Barcelona Day II

Free Walking Tours RUNNER BEAN TOURS Barcelona Spring-Summer (from April 1st to October 14th): 11:00 AM and 4:30 PM. Every day (rain or shine), including Bank holidays Winter (from October 15th to March 31st): 11:00 AM. Every day (rain or shine), including Bank holidays Meeting Point : Placa Reial Nearest tube : Liceu (L3) You will be visiting Palau Guell, Casa Batllo, Casa Mila & Sagrada Familia. However, you won't be entering all these places, just pass by. But I strongly recommend to join the tour to know more about history of Barcelona. You can re-visit those places later. The tour is around 2.5 hours & Ends at Sagrada Familia. At the end of the tour, you can decide how much tip you want to pay to your guide :) http://www.runnerbeantours.com

Palau Guell
Casa Batllo
The building looks very remarkable — like everything Gaudí designed, only identifiable as Modernisme or Art Nouveau in the broadest sense. The ground floor, in particular, is rather astonishing with tracery, irregular oval windows and flowing sculpted stone work.
It seems that the goal of the designer was to avoid straight lines completely. Much of the façade is decorated with a mosaic made of broken ceramic tiles (trencadís) that starts in shades of golden orange moving into greenish blues. The roof is arched and was likened to the back of a dragon or dinosaur. A common theory about the building is that the rounded feature to the left of centre, terminating at the top in a turret and cross, represents the lance of Saint George (patron saint of Catalonia, Gaudí's home), which has been plunged into the back of the dragon.

I don't know what this is called. It's like baby ikan bilis. However, it's too oily. I ordered prawns and it was very fresh & tasty.

Ticket for Adult : 21.50 € with audio guide.
For student : 18.50 € with audio guide.

The curvilinear stone columns resembling the bones of dragon & the little balconies have been compared to masks, with various kinds of symbolism attributed to the overall design. The facade of the structure is covered with "tachiste abstraction" in glittering colours.

It's like our Borough Market. Waaaaay too crowded so I didn't take out my camera, I used my iPhone to snap few photos. Most of the stalls are closed when I went there so I only bought fruit juice.

(ii) Most of the tourist spots are not open on Monday. So please kindly check before you book your ticket.
Palau Guell is just off Las Ramblas.
Walking down Las Ramblas you to turn right into Nou de la Rambla, Plaza Reial will be on your left.
Metro: The two closest Metro Stations are Liceu and Drassannes on line 3.
Bus: There are also bus stops at Liceu, Escudellers and Drassanes.Lines 14, 59, 91, 120 and the Bus turistic.
FGC: Lines L6, L7, S1, S2, S5, S55 Closest Station: Plaza Catalunya at the top of Las Ramblas.
I didn't buy the ticket online but I went there around 6.30pm so I need not to queue.

It's in hidden in a small street in La Ramblas. The food is soooo good and the proportion is quite big but I still managed to finish it :P I think it's around 16/17€. I'm lucky that I need not to queue cause there are people started to queue after me. The services isn't that impressive. But I would still recommend this restaurant. (Y)
